The position available

East Bundaberg Veterinary Hospital is looking for a permanent veterinarian to join our team. We are a 3-vet animal
hospital with a small branch practice at seaside Bargara that we service 5 days a week. Our team includes 6 nurses, 3
receptionists, a groomer and a practice manager.

Who are we?

We boast a very experienced team of professionals with over 80 years of experience in the veterinary business and
two of our senior vets are registered members of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in
areas of Small Animal Surgery, Canine and Feline Internal Medicine.

The business is over 35 years old and we work out of a purpose-built animal hospital that is equipped with the latest
in blood laboratory equipment, dental digital x-rays, dental machines, DR x-ray capabilities, 2 ultrasounds, scopes, full
surgical capabilities etc. We are capable of dealing with 98% of all cases seen with the occasional case needing to be
referred to specialists.

We mainly deal with dogs, cats and avian with the occasional pocket pet. We are closely associated with the wildlife
carers and we donate our time and expertise to assist injured and sick wildlife whenever possible.

What is in it for YOU?

The successful applicant will learn a lot in a caring helpful environment. We are privately owned, and we do not
dictate to our vets on how to treat or set KPI’s. Our experienced vets are more then willing to assist all new graduates
(and not so new graduates) and we discuss cases and new concepts on a daily basis. We work as a team and we
encourage all people to participate in working with the owner, the animal and the other members of the attending
team.

We are very proud of our very high success rate in treating animals and helping owners and we believe that the
health and happiness of the patient and assisting all owners is paramount to fulfilling the commitment we made to
this profession when we graduated.

Our veterinarians have a half day off once a week and we share afterhours equally. After being on duty for a weekend
the veterinarian then gets a 3 day weekend on the next weekend. Every veterinarian gets 6 weeks holiday and a
week’s study leave each year. The salary initially starts on the award wage (according to experience) but as the
veterinarian becomes more and more settled in with our team then the salary increases accordingly.

We are a progressive business and our business is expanding every year and we would like YOU to be part of this
progression.

What do we require of you?

We do require you to be self-motivated, to be conscientious in your professional dealing, to be honest and
hardworking, to be friendly and enjoy the odd laugh or too, to be helpful to everyone you meet, to be caring for the
sick and injured, to be willing to work in a team where everyone is on the same level, to want to learn and are willing
to listen and evaluate new ideas and new concepts, to be proactive in promoting the business and the profession and
more than anything – to have a good sense of humour and humility.

What has Bundaberg got to offer?

Bundaberg is 4.5 hours’ drive north of Brisbane and boasts a wonderful sub-tropical climate where it is possible to
swim all year round, play golf nearly every day, fish to your hearts content either in the ocean (it is the start of the
Great Barrier Reef) or in the many rivers that are found in the surrounding country side, play nearly every form of
sport, read a book, go to a play or attend the local art centre, watch turtles lay their eggs at famous Mon Repos,
snorkel or dive on the Great Barrier Reef, walk along long beach fronts, sit and enjoy a coffee at the many different
coffee shops, drive in the wonderful relaxing countryside, chill out while watching the world go by, enjoy our famous
Ginger Beer or Bundaberg rum (depending on your taste), dance the night away at our many night clubs, sit quietly
on a deserted white sand beach watching the small waves crawl up the beach to gently wash your feet or walk for
kilometres while playing with your dogs (that may be just me) – then consider applying for this position.
