Practice Manager 

I'm Jackie Gilks. I started employment at East Bundaberg Veterinary Hospital in 1993 as a Kennel Nurse. Since then I have completed my Veterinary Nurses Certificate and worked as Head Nurse for about 3 years before taking the position as Receptionist in 2000. I then accepted the position of Manager in 2003 and that has been a huge learning curve for me. My position keeps me mentally and physically stimulated with each day teaching me something new. I am currently studying and hope that one day I can come to work and know everything. :-P (joking)

When I am not at work, I train my horses as we (my horses and I) compete in Endurance Riding which for those of you who do not know is long distance horse riding. I also like to do social riding so when possible I join in some of the local trail rides and fun days.

I try to get to the gym 2 to 3 afternoons per week and ride the horses on average about 6hrs per week, this will vary depending on what event we are preparing for.

I live on 12 acres about 40 minutes out of town where I keep very busy with property maintenance and playing with my other kids (all of them have 4 legs).
