VET NURSE

We are a purpose-built small animal hospital with a wide range of equipment to be able to offer comprehensive diagnostic and treatment capabilities to all our patients. Our team comprises of 2 senior vets, one part-time vet, a manager and 10 nurses and receptionists. Both senior vets are members of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists – one in Small Animal Internal Medicine and one in Small Animal Surgery.

We deal with 60% dogs, 30% cats and 10% avian. We offer our services to wildlife rescue free of charge. We are active in the community by both giving donations as well as offering our time and expertise to organisations that require our assistance.

As we live 5 hours drive away from the specialist centres, we endeavour to have all the latest in diagnostic and treatment equipment. We pride ourselves in that our business offers a high-end veterinary service to our clients and our patients in both surgical and medical as well as preventative medicine and overall health advice.

The successful applicant will be expected to be enthusiastic, to be honest, hardworking, and wanting to achieve a high standard of veterinary science. They will have to be able to interact with caring and loving owners, to have a good sense of humour, to respect the profession and fellow professionals along with staff members the public and their animals.

VET

We do encourage all members of our team to be proactive in further education and to do their own research to make themselves better professionals. We do encourage all staff members to discuss difficult cases and any information they have come across that may assist our business to get better and better.

What is “in it” for the successful applicant. They get to work in a comfortable professional environment where they are supported by other staff members – both professionally and personally. Our staff are very highly trained and very proud of the standing we have in the community and we would want any successful applicant to feel part of our team. We encourage each staff member to be “excellent” and to achieve the high standards that the public expect from a veterinary hospital.

We want our staff to be proud of each other, the profession we work in as well as be proud of our business name. We do not set KPI’s, we do not dictate set ways to treat patients, we have vet meetings every day and we have staff meetings every week so that any area can be discussed in an open manner.

Bundaberg is situated approximately 4 ½ hours drive north of Brisbane. It is the home of the famous “Bundaberg rum” and “Bundaberg Ginger Beer” as well as Mon Repos Turtle Hatchery. The city itself is approximately 10 km from the coast and has satellite township of Bargara that is right on the coast (we have branch practice in Bargara).

The city (including the satellite townships) has a population of approximately 90,000 people. The diversification of sports and other activities (music, art, playhouses etc) is immense. We are the southern most port for the Great Barrier Reef and our coast boasts some of the most pristine beaches for those people who love water activities.
